Which type of drive options suits best for you?

Front-wheel drive (FWD)

With front-wheel drive, the front drive wheels pull the powered wheelchair safely over kerbs, thresholds and uneven paths. At the same time, you remain maneuverable in tight indoor spaces. The FWD is particularly suitable for people who spend a lot of time indoors and regularly need to overcome obstacles outdoors.

Mid-wheel drive (MWD)

With mid-wheel drive, the drive wheels are located directly under your COG. This ensures the smallest turning circle and a particularly intuitive driving experience in apartments, corridors and confined spaces. The MWD is ideal if you need maximum maneuverability indoors and want stable, balanced handling outdoors.

Rear-wheel drive (RWD)

With rear-wheel drive, the rear drive wheels push the powered wheelchair forwards and give you smooth, stable directional stability. This allows you to drive long distances and different surfaces in a controlled and comfortable manner. RWD is ideal if you are mainly outdoors and need a lot of stability at higher speeds.

FAQs.

How fast does a powered wheelchair go?

Depending on the model, the maximum speed is 6, 10 or 12.5 km/h. Which speed is ideal for you depends on your individual needs, the model you choose and regulations in your country.

How far can I get on one battery charge?
The range depends on several factors: Model, rechargeable battery capacity, terrain, weight and riding style. On average, SANGO models manage up to 30 kilometers per charge. Electric seat adjustments or frequent changes of direction can shorten the range somewhat. In winter, the capacity of the batteries decreases due to frost.
How do I charge the batteries correctly?
After use, connect the wheelchair to the charger supplied and charge it overnight. This ensures that the rechargeable battery is always ready for use. You should avoid deep discharging. Only use the original DIETZ charger to preserve the service life of the batteries.
How do I read the battery indicator correctly?
A bar or light indicator on the joystick display shows the current charge status. Green stands for full, red for almost empty. If the display flashes or a warning message appears, it is time to charge.
How long does the charging process take?
A full charge takes between 6 and 12 hours, depending on the battery type and model. Charge the batteries regularly, even if the wheelchair has only been used for a short time, to keep the performance constant.
Where can I find the serial number of my powered wheelchair?

The serial number can be found on a type label on the frame or on the battery box. It contains the model designation, year of manufacture and other technical information. This number is important if you need spare parts or service.

How much bar should my wheels have with pneumatic tires?

Depending on the size, the tire pressure is between 2.5 and 3.5 bar. You can find the exact value on the tire sidewall. Correct pressure ensures optimum driving comfort, a longer reach and a longer tire life.

How do I activate or deactivate the immobilizer?
The immobilizer protects your wheelchair from unauthorized use. It can be activated using the joystick: Press and hold the stick until the message appears on the display. To deactivate, repeat the process.
Can I add electric options on a later stage?

Many SANGO models have a modular design. This means that functions such as an electric backrest, seat tilt or seat lift can be added at a later stage. A specialist will check which extensions are compatible with your model.

How get a powered wheelchair maintained?

What does the turtle in the display mean?

What should I do if an error code appears on the display?

An error code notices a technical fault. Briefly switch your powered wheelchair off and on again. If the message persists, please contact your medical retailer or DIETZ GROUP technical support. Please do not repair your chair yourself.

Can I drive my powered wheelchair in the rain?

Light rain is not a problem. However, avoid heavy rainfall, puddles or high-pressure cleaners. After a ride in the rain, wipe the wheelchair dry, especially around the plug connections and electronics.

How do I care for and clean my wheelchair properly?
Clean the wheelchair regularly with a soft, slightly damp cloth and a little curd soap. Do not use harsh cleaning agents. Make sure that the control unit is switched off before you clean the seat area or the controls. You can find out more about cleaning in the user manual for your wheelchair.
